Another at-home newborn photography session with tiny baby Liesel and her over-the-moon-in-love parents. My heart swells up during these hours of shooting – I am truly honoured I get to move through and observe the true love and careful attentiveness of a young family as they experience these early days of parenthood. It is overwhelmingly precious. As a parent, I know how fleeting these moments are. It’s a cliche I know, but the years do speed along. Though when you sit inside these tender minutes, quiet, listening to each of her little breaths, it feels like time has almost stopped entirely. Newborn babies can awaken sensitivity, their sudden existence sparks a sense of profundity and miraculousness. It is essential, what her existence brings into a home. I can only hope these photographs do her justice. Newborn baby Liesel, you are a wonder.
