Oh I love me a pizza & ice cream inspired engagement shoot.

Since I’m already preparing Ivona & Niko’s wedding photos for a new post coming in a week or two, clearly this one is just a wee bit behind schedule. But you know, sometimes life is just like that. I still need to share this one, because…well, it’s adorable.

Ivona & Niko had recently moved to Burlington, in the midst of planning their wedding, and were basically still unpacking boxes when they agreed to meet me downtown in early September and do a brief shoot at some local haunts. Ivona had sent me a list of local businesses that she liked and I went for a scout around to narrow her list down to a few select favourites. She had also advised me that her & Niko LOVE pizza. and ice cream. Well simple then.

When coming up with a plan for an engagement shoot, I (obviously) want to take my cues from the couple. Where do they like to roam? What do they like to do together? Since this is the town where they live, and these are the places that they will likely return to again and again, why not make these the backdrop of their memories, past and future. I love how the play between history and the future is always popping up in the making of images. Will they return to this pizzeria on their 1st anniversary? Will they take their children to this ice cream joint, then take them home to show them this photo of their younger selves? It also doesn’t hurt that these two were brimming with the excitement and anticipation of their wedding day, right around the corner. Can you see the romance? I hope so.
