It’s been sunny warm and pleasantly balmy in Toronto for what seems like many months. So my heart went out to Jen & Neil when I looked out at the wild wind and blackened clouds that arrived for the day of their wedding, and saw the forecast for snow on my computer screen. But Jen & Neil appeared totally unphased—no plans changed, just a few umbrellas bought and full speed ahead–such a calm grace between these two. Jen is a classical beauty with slender features and voluminous dark eyes that catch the light when she looks at her man. She wore an exquisite feathery hair clip that set off her whole look–a timeless elegance that merged sublimely with the 1930’s chic of the Eglinton Grand Theatre. So much fun to shoot!! The exchange of vows under the extreme light of a sky window, the circusy neon & flash of the marquee, the lavish art deco mural serving as backdrop to the head table…those big gold circles on the red wall…Of course I wish we had been able to take more photos in the park, with everything so dripping wet and luscious green–but it was sooooo cold!!! brrrr! Jen and her bridesmaids were unbelievably valiant in their efforts to brave that weather with bare shoulders in the first place. If I had a hat on, it would be off to you now.
I must comment on how fun it was was to be among this tight-knit community of friends again, to say hello to the other brides & grooms there who’s weddings I photographed in years past. You are really an amazing group and I consider it a real priviledge to be a part of this history you all create together. So Thank you for that.
Jen & Neil, your wedding day unfolded seamlessly–but I think you both knew it would. I loved that you danced on the main floor alone, while everyone looked on from the upper floor balcony. I loved your triangular boxes of jellybeans with the thank you charms. I love the casual comfort you take in one another–you make love look easy, as it should be.
Happy honeymoon and many moons after!
