Happy New Year!!!

Have a look at this mecca of a wedding. What a perfect day–mild with a gently falling snow–I love how snowflakes can sparkle up a photo!

The entire event took place at the Hockley Valley Country Club, near Caledon, Ontario, land of ski & golf (depending on the season).

Erin and her mom planned for an evening of high elegance and galore while making sure that their guests got the most out of their New Year’s Eve. The ceremony was set up in full style, all in whites, silver and crystal: huge circular arrangements of white roses atop massive white pedestals, mirror stands lining the aisle topped with twinkly ornamental chandeliers, wide white ribbons and a parchment path. an incredible presentation designed by the very talented Rachel Clingen http://www.rachelaclingen.com.

The bridal party dressed in black–every guy with a single white rose, every girl with a white bouquet and a faux furry black shawl to ward off the cold (except for the bride’s, in white of course).

After the ceremony, while copious amounts of champagne were being poured and toasted over in the foyer, the ballroom was transformed (again by Rachel Clingen Designs) into an dazzling vision of decadence. Tall crystalline chandelier centrepieces and candelabra everywhere, a gi-normous cupcake tree, a stunning head table full of candles and glass baubles and a net full of white balloons hanging from the ceiling–as a promise of the festivities to come.

My favorite part: every table was assigned a year in the last 2 & 1/2 decades and, in accompaniment to the centrepieces, each displayed two black & white 5×7 photographs, one of Erin and one of Neil, from that given year. So, in a way, the tables became a ‘walk-around album’ of the couple’s lives. So charming.

The effect was truly inspiring.

This massive room full of guests collectively rose to the occasion and brought in the celebration with a wallop. There was dancing before and after dinner , and in between courses, if I remember correctly. Booze continued to flow wildly. An abundance of New Year’s hats and horns and tiaras were passed throughout.  A contingent of Neil’s family performed Michael Jackson’s Thriller from beginning to end. People got their groove on large. Even myself and my man, assisting me in my endeavours, tied a little one on, caught up in the throes of this perfect party chaos.

Yay 2010!!

Happy future for Erin & Neil!!

Let the good times roll.
