It was truly an honour being asked to capture the wedding celebration of these two individuals. Natasha travels far and wide for her work, as does Aizaz. It seems they are rarely in the same place at once. Throughout their planning it would not be unusual for Natasha to email from London or Dubai, or to be struggling to find a signal in Tanzania. We only met by conference call a few weeks before the wedding day–all wonderfully last minute perhaps and yet, the occasion unfolded brilliantly, colourful, auspicious and altogether marvellous.
The wedding ceremony was held at Lionhead Golf & Country Club, a massive expanse of rolling landscape in Toronto’s north-westernmost corner. Bejewelled saris and flower petals aplenty, the scene rich with smiles, introductions and endearments. Aizaz, looking positively regal in his wedding attire searches for his name in his bride’s elaborately hennaed hands. Natasha, ravishing in silver and white, bursts into laughter as her groom stumbles on his lines, then later, watches on, shell-shocked, as Aizaz performs a fully choreographed dance to a medley of her favourite pop-songs. Each passing moment, an opportunity taken. Every bright minute ushering in the next.
Now, as these two finally find themselves some time to spend together–may it be sweet.
