These two New Yorkers came home for the weekend to get hitched in TO–Queen St. West–The Drake Hotel. Hotspot party central. Every wall in the Drake is filled with detail; there is almost no negative space in the place–so, while at times a challenge, it was for the most part an incredibly fun place to be shooting all day.
I love that Ilana chose these multicoloured bouquets–it made so much sense with the myriad colours of the bar’s interior. Why fight it, right? I love the Rorschach ink blots behind the family portraits. I love the velvety wilderness painting and the smiling tiger. I love that Ilana’s lipstick matches the colour of the barstools.
The evening had a relaxed urban flow to it: an end of day ceremony, everyone spiffy in cocktail attire, drinks mixed and shaken and poured upon arrival. The minute the formalities erupted in applause, an impressive variety of  hors d’ouvres circulated throughout the room like magic deliciousness. Everyone was given a twoonie to plunk inside the photobooth for a chance behind the curtain with a person of their choice–little retro strips of  b&w snapshots were passed around in abundance.
Everyone was all smiles–which always makes my job easy. Especially when they hit the dancefloor with the serious need to strut.
