A vibrant and many-faceted celebration in Toronto’s north end.
Cheryl & Raymond plotted out their wedding as a midday summer event amidst historic stone walls and leaded windows, cultivated hedge groves and well trimmed estate lawns. A wedding luncheon with a send-off by late afternoon.
But not only this. This party also reflected the traditions of two families, their cultures and ceremonies. So first, an outdoor wedding of the Anglo-Saxon tradition, officiated by a close friend, within the intimate confines of a circular garden patio. Then, switch up, a vibrant Korean Pyebaek Ceremony, wherein the bride & groom in full regalia, bow and serve rice wine to their respective parents and elders, then play a few games to predict the number of offspring the couple might have among other things…my favourite was when Ray was made to put a seed of some sort in Cheryl’s mouth, and then fight her to get it back, both of them only using their teeth. Cheryl won, of course—indicating that she would be the one in charge, to the glee and delight of every woman in the room. Then another wardrobe change and a ‘social hour’ in the Korean tradition. Then, switch up again, and the luncheon begins–an elegant North American style meal with silverware and champagne, tea and dessert.
Notice how these images move from whites and pales, greys and peaches, to punchy reds, pinks and royal blues, and then back again. I love the contrast–the explosion of colour, action and laughter.
Cheryl is truly a natural beauty, with such twinkly features–but you have to especially enjoy the look of her dressed in her Korean wedding garb. What a vision. I’m enamoured with these images of them being dressed in that little pink and yellow room, particularly where Ray checks Cheryl’s cheek stickers to make sure they’re well stuck–adorable, yes?
I love these wedding veil shots. These tender moments with moms. Pokemon battles on the front lawn–whaaaat??!
And of course the very bubbly departure.
Bright sunny futures and some cans behind a Rolls Royce. All good things lie ahead. xo
