What a amazing venue for a celebration! The Briars is an incredibly charming old estate that sprawls across the southern shoreline of Lake Simcoe. It was great fun exploring it’s many halls and passageways, it’s gardens and paths and the many multi-faceted houses, cottages and fanciful structures that grace the massive property. Check out the little brick dome house and the fairy-tale tower over the main building. Wonderful.
Jennifer and James exchanged vows at the historic chapel at Jackson’s Point, then threw their party in the Summer House–an inviting, white and well-windowed venue with a great big yard for cocktailing and croquet, ladder golf (bolo toss) and Jenga, and English football of course. I love that the day was so hazy and New England-ish–it felt like we were in Maine, maybe on the set of a murder mystery drama. Thick humid air and and everything glowing with rich colour.
The reception was exquisitely masterminded by Anne Lemon, a truly competent, creative and wonderfully supportive human being all round. I would recommend her services to all—any bride would be lucky to have her. She’s a dynamo, backed up by her lovely husband, Lloyd.
Feast your eyes on all the blue! The adorable hot air balloon lanterns. Flowers aplenty. Customized bibs, And, my favourite, homemade buttertarts!!
The incredible food, the wine, the whimsy. Smiles abound.
A fabulous day thoroughly enjoyed. Best wishes to the newlyweds! xo
